What a sick world we live in.

The video that we watched in class really got to me and made me lose a little more of my already dwindling hope in humanity. To think that so many women are being murdered at such an exponential rate is bad enough, but the thought that there is little to nothing being done about it, makes the situation just sickening. I was extrememly upset about the girl who could have been saved if only something had been done about her disappearence in the first 14 days that she went missing. The story that was told about the woman in the cell who was shown the pictures bothered me, but the skeptic inside asked the question, "why didn't they kill her, too?". I just don't think it would make much sense to show a person pictures of a horrendous crime that you committed, only to let them go and tell their story to the world. All in all, the video reminded me that we live in such a nasty world where people have no value for life, and others won't help because they believe their live to be more valuable than the life that belongs to the missing people. It is truly sad.

  1. I agree, I think that it is really sad that all of this is going on, just miles away from us. It is scary to think that that little can be done about the disappearing women in Mexico. And to think, I would be upset if the police took 30 minutes to come to my aid, if I were in need. And in Mexico they do not get the help and all. I mean I guess they're trying to help, but what good is it doing? It is sad to think that all of that is going on right in our backyard.

  2. Seriously right? Who would've thought something this horrendous was happening just across the border? It is disturbing to think about how the people who are supposed to be just and help are also as if not more corrupt than those who are committing the crimes, if they aren't one in the same.

This documentary was made in 2002... who is to know what happened with the lady who was raped by the police? I can't imagine how many more women died after this documentary was made.

  3. Chelsea...the woman who was in the cell's story, was horrifying, but I too thought, "How did she survive? Why was she let go when knowone else was?" It kind of didn't make any sense to me as well. I'm in no way saying that what she experienced wasn't true, I would never want to descredit her story, but how did she survive? I wish the movie would have let us in on more of that. I feel like stuff was being left out.
